What The Ground's Like

The South Leeds Stadium was a purposely built athletics stadium built in 1995 and has been home to the Hunslet Hawks ever since. It is based in Beeston just off the M621 and has one, two-tiered stand with a licenced bar viewing the pitch between them. As it is a purposely built athletics stadium it includes a shot put cage and a long jump pit. A track also runs around the field making it hard to see the action on the other side of the pitch. The stand is north-easterly facing meaning it is unlikely the sun will be in your eyes. There is plenty of legroom and plenty of facilities with it being a modern stadium. An electronic scoreboard is on the other side of the pitch facing 'The Grandstand'. The Hunslet fans normally make it out to be a good atmosphere along with cheerleaders and club mascot 'Harry The Hawk'. Behind the top tier there is a food stand serving anything from burgers, snacks and hot & cold drinks.

Away Fans

Taken from experience, I have noticed on my visits to the South Leeds Stadium that the away fans normally congregate in the bottom tier, at the right facing the pitch. Plenty of noise can be made especially on the top tier. where there is a low lying roof.

Where To Eat & Drink

With the South Leeds Stadium being built next to an industial estate, there isn't much near by. The Dewsbury Road Social Club is at the top of Middleton Grove and a KFC is located 300 yards down Dewsbury Road. For a drink, your best option is the Phoenix Suite located at the stadium. It is open at 12 noon on Sunday matches.
