What's The Ground Like

Headingley Stadium was built in 1889 and opened in 1890 while Leeds were known as Leeds St. Johns. The Carnegie stand is situated at the Eastern side of the ground and is the most recent stand built in 2005 and has a capacity of 4'550 which includes 1'844 seats. At the other side of the ground is the western terrace, this is designated for the away fans which also houses the scoreboard and the giant TV screen for live fixtures. The terrace isn't covered so you are open to the elements. At the northern side there is the Paddock Stand & The Main Stand which backs onto the Cricket Ground.  The top half of the stand is the main stand is all seated with old wooden seats but the paddock stand below is new plastic seats. This is where the teams come out onto the pitch, however they used to come out down the ramp between The Main Stand and Old Eastern Terrace (Now the Carnegie Stand). Finally there is The Rugby Side which is based at the South Side. This is a covered terrace which runs the length of the pitch.
